The Top 50 products of Great Taste 2014
Following the allocation of sought-after food stars to over 3,000 products, Great Taste has now revealed the top 50 foods of the year.
Great Taste has revealed the top 50 foods of the year. Recently, Great Taste identified the food stars of 2014, allocating one-, two- and three-star ratings to over 3,000 products.
It has now whittled down the selection to the absolute crème de la crème of cuisine, naming the top 50 food and drink products.
What’s on the list?
The Guild of Fine Food, the organisation behind the Great Taste Awards, were tweeting ten results a day through last week, and the list is now fully public.
The 50 products cover a wide range of foodstuffs, including a Japanese style soy sauce, a dairy-free ice cream made with avocado, coconut milk and honey, and (the one I’m most inclined to try out) a honey tequila praised for its smoothness and smokiness.
There really is something for everyone, and though these products don’t tend to be the cheapest, what you’re paying for is the quality attested to by a team of over 400 judges. So for a special treat, they’re well worth shelling out for.
One company in particular is of note; Hannan Meats picked up five positions among the top 50 for its range of salt aged meats.
Hannan got five products into the top 50 last year, and had seven products awarded three stars. So if you’re looking for extra special meat, it seems to be the place to go. The downside (unless you happen to live close by) is that it’s located in a rural area of Northern Ireland, but they supply to restaurants across the UK and Ireland.
The list of the top 50 products is now available for perusal on Great Taste’s website.
What next?
Now that the top 50 have been informed of their success, there are still a few announcements left to be made.
The Guild of Fine Food will be hosting an evening in London on 8th September to reveal the Great Taste Supreme Champion 2014, and the regional Golden Fork Award winners.
After the event, video reviews of each food in the top 50 will be available to watch.
