The new Michelin Eating out in Pubs guide has been released, and the title of Pub of the Year awarded.

The Wild Rabbit in Kingham, Oxfordshire has been named Michelin's Pub of the Year for its “stylish yet rustic, spacious yet cosy” feel and “first-rate food”.

Those are the words of Rebecca Burr, editor of the guide, who also praised the accommodation and friendliness of the establishment. “With an animated atmosphere, cheery service and stylish yet rustic bedrooms, the pub ticks all the right boxes."

The dinner menu features dishes such as monkfish wrapped in bacon, Josper oven-cooked steaks and cacao nib-crusted venison. The bar menu offers some interesting meals too including lamb’s kidneys on toast, braised hare pappardelle and freshly made pizza.

What else is in the guide?

The guide features more than 590 pubs from across Great Britain and Ireland, including 70 new entries. The focus is on the quality of the food, but there's an in-depth description of each pub as well as photographs and prices. Real ale fans will be pleased to know that the house's pumps are also listed for each entry.

‘Inspector’s Favourites’ are also specially marked out, as are the 16 pubs that now hold a Michelin Star (or, in the case of Tom Kerridge’s Hand and Flowers, two).

Also noted for special attention are 43 Bib Gourmand entries. These are pubs that have been praised by inspectors for offering great value on good food.
