Incredible edible cakes from Cake International
With these beautiful cake designs, would you really want to have your cake and eat it too?
Nobody wants boring cakes anymore. Cakes are seen as statements, even art. Here is a selection of some incredible edible cakes as featured at the Cake International exhibition in London.
Curiouser and curiouser!
You can almost imagine being through the looking glass with Alice in Wonderland with this cake! Maybe the caterpillar will let you join him on his mushroom? Or you could follow the white rabbit further down the rabbit hole.
Cinderella, Prince Charming is waiting
Imagine getting married in a wedding dress made entirely out of cake?! It probably wouldn't be very practical but at least now you can visualise the possibility.
Flower power
Who else thought these were real flowers? No really, these two-toned rose tulips really are baked to perfection (even the cupcake holders are cake!). The blending of colours makes this piece so lifelike.
What a porker!
Sleepy sleepy piggy after eating more than it could stomach.
A jewellery box fit for royalty
A masterpiece. This beauty really could be a Hungarian jewellery box, finished with a beautiful, colourful mosaic.
Flowers worthy of a prize...
This year’s International winner at Cake International 2016 is this beauty, and there is no need to wonder why. The petals are so lifelike, not to mention the small, delicate buds. This cake is ready to plant in your garden.
He's the king of the swingers
This cake really is King of the Jungle. You can almost hear King Louie singing “Oh, oobee doo, I wanna be like you, I wanna walk like you, talk like you, too.”
There's always time for tea!
Are you ready for the Mad Hatter’s tea party? Look at those eyes! He’s ready for you!
Is that you Angelina?
Maleficent takes on human cake form in this ingenious creation. The design took 50 boxes of Rice Krispies, 240 packets of marshmallows, 25 blocks of butter and four weeks to create the stunning representation of Angelina Jolie’s character.
Look out, it's a killer squid!
You wouldn't want to mess with this octopus cake; the tentacles look like they could tangle you up in a matter of seconds.
Follow that star!
How intricate is the detail on this mini hot air balloon? The pearls around the flowers, the tiny roses, even the miniature sandbags. Some real craftwork went into this design.
Nothing but deep blue sea
A cake maker and an artist are not very different, and this cake shows why. Look at the brushstrokes on the turtle's face, on the clown fish’s scales, even the beautiful blue tones of the ocean. Time to jump in and swim with Nemo.
Eureka! We have a winner!
The genius Albert Einstein won first prize at the Cake International show. Look at his wrinkles, his jumper, HIS HAIR! The hair alone is worth praise, everything else is just an added bonus.
