Who ever wrote this has obviously never actually been to Asheville and had the food there. Asheville food is by and large mediocre and overpriced. There are a few good places, but the majority are bad. Once a restaurant in Asheville everyone raved about served Trader Joe’s ravioli and charged $30 for 5 pieces. That is just an example, but having grown up in Asheville then left to see the word and return 5 years ago, I can definitively say it’s all hype. I am convinced the reason people keep raving about the food scene is they are too embarrassed to admit they got Ashevilled (suckered into over paying for bad food) and so the cycle perpetuates. Asheville doesn’t even have the best beer/brewery in NC, that’s Hendersonville and Brevard.
