39. The Double Red Duke, Clanfield, England, UK
The Double Red Duke in the Cotswolds village of Clanfield hasn’t even been open very long, but its William Morris-inspired wallpaper and big-flavoured food have already given it something of a reputation. A self-serve breakfast is included in your room rate, so expect bowls of granola and muesli, hunks of sourdough, homemade preserves and fresh fruit. But the real magic lies in the a la carte menu, which packs a massive punch. Try the breakfast muffin with its richly seasoned patty, gooey egg and oozing Ogleshield cheese or the smoked haddock omelette for something super special.
38. El Fenn, Marrakech, Morocco
Located within the city’s bustling medina, El Fenn is a hotel and art boutique made up of several interconnected riads. The colourful and calm oasis it provides is also home to some of the finest food in Marrakech. Breakfast is covered in the standard rate for overnight guests and is taken on the hotel’s terrace, which overlooks the Atlas Mountains. Highlights of the menu include shakshuka, msemen (Moroccan semolina pancakes served with butter or honey) and avocado toast with radishes. The food is almost too pretty to be eaten.

37. Yokohama Bay Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Yokohama, Japan
The Sheraton Yokohama Bay provides breakfast for its guests in Japan’s second-largest city. There's plenty of choice, as there are three different breakfast spots within the hotel. The main option is Compass, an all-day dining restaurant with a global buffet of seasonal salads, pastries and cloud-like omelettes with unlimited combinations. The hotel also offers a Kanagawa breakfast, placing a spotlight on local dishes and ingredients eaten traditionally. If you’re in a hurry, grab a drink and a quick bite at the Seawind lounge or Dorer bakery.

BaccaratHotelNewYork/Facebook
32. Baccarat Hotel, New York City, New York, USA
If there's ever been a place that could stand up to the name of the Grand Salon, then it's the elegant restaurant at the Baccarat Hotel in New York City. The lauded Grand Salon is about as grand as it comes, and the food is fit to match the outstanding surroundings. The avocado toast with poached eggs is a sight for sore eyes, while the selection of fresh pastries is heaven for carb lovers. Enjoy a set breakfast or go a la carte, and if it's too much for you to make it downstairs, you can also dine from the comfort of your own room.
31. Rosewood Villa Magna, Madrid, Spain
After living it up in luxury at the Rosewood Villa Magna in Madrid, head to its signature Las Brasas de la Castellana restaurant for a memorable breakfast. The elegant spot has garden views and a terrace, but it's the authentic Spanish food that'll have you coming back for more. Favourites on the breakfast menu include waffles topped with your choice of berries, almonds, syrup, Nutella or whipped cream, pancakes with another long list of delicious toppings and torrija, which features brioche bread piled with berries, honey and toasted almonds.
30. The Dylan, Amsterdam, Netherlands
Situated in the Nine Streets district on the Keizersgracht canal, The Dylan Amsterdam embodies the laid-back character and understated splendour of this gorgeous city. Breakfast doesn’t come with your room booking, but it's still worth considering while you’re there. Treat yourself to breakfast in bed or wander down to Bar Brasserie OCCO, where the menu starts small with overnight oats, coconut porridge and avocado sandwiches before revealing belly-busting alternatives like Norwegian eggs (smoked salmon and poached egg with hollandaise sauce on brioche) and a full English.

29. Fairmont Pacific Rim, Vancouver, Canada
After spending the night at the fantastic Fairmont Pacific Rim, head down to the Botanist restaurant to enjoy a brilliant breakfast. You can poke around the pantry and cobble together your own plate of artisanal offerings and coffee – or you can pick from the a la carte menu. As you're in Canada, getting something to top with lashings of maple syrup only feels appropriate, but a popular option is the Pacific Rim breakfast. That's eggs, bacon, sausage, crispy potatoes, toast and coffee or tea. Delicious.
AubergeDuJeuDePaume/Facebook
28. Auberge du Jeu de Paume, Chantilly, France
Set within the grounds of an opulent château, Auberge du Jeu de Paume unsurprisingly delivers a breakfast fit for royalty. You have to pay extra for the privilege, but when previous visitors consistently rave about the breakfast, something makes us think it’s worth the splurge. It's a decadent continental buffet affair, covering all the usual suspects that can either be enjoyed in the comfort of your room, on the private terrace of your suite or in the hotel’s marble-floored restaurant.

26. Hotel Arts Barcelona, Spain
A couple of breakfast options are available at Hotel Arts Barcelona, but the place to go is Lokal. The buffet includes everything you'd expect from a continental breakfast, but things are given a regional twist here. The restaurant is designed like a Barcelona market, with a focus on local produce and specialities from Catalonia and beyond. The smells and colours of the area delight the senses, while the kitchen delivers hot items such as homemade pancakes and various egg dishes. If the weather's good, why not enjoy breakfast on the terrace?

That's a good thing if you're planning on indulging in breakfast at this classy hotel, which is nestled in the centre of Old Quebec. After all, the continental offering is best enjoyed in the room while you lounge in bed and enjoy the views. Fill your plate with cheese, eggs, charcuterie and pasties and set yourself up for a day of exploring.
20. Otahuna Lodge, Christchurch, New Zealand
Otahuna Lodge was built in 1895 as a grand home, and it retains much of that history today. In fact, eating at Otahuna Lodge is in some ways similar to eating at someone's (incredibly expensive) house. There are no standard menus for any of the meals served throughout the day, with the culinary team instead relying on seasonal produce, much of it sourced from the estate. Presentation is unfussy, too, as guests are invited to feel at home in this marvellous South Island mansion.
ThePeninsulaParis/Facebook
19. The Peninsula Paris, France
Staying at The Peninsula Paris is like stepping back in time. The classy hotel has carefully restored its 1908 reception room, so it mirrors the so-called Belle Époque (Beautiful Era) it was built in. But if you can look beyond the fabulous surroundings, the food in Le Lobby restaurant is served with equal style. Options include continental, Chinese, American and Middle Eastern breakfasts as well as a la carte delights such as French toast, pastries and smoked salmon.

17. Loden Hotel, Vancouver, Canada
Loden Hotel in Vancouver has garnered all manner of praise from critics and guests, including readers' choice awards from Condé Nast and TripAdvisor. Options for le petit déjeuner include pastries, avocado tartine and a delicious Canadian-style breakfast.
esperanzaresortauberge/Facebook
16. Esperanza, Auberge Resorts Collection, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico
If you're staying on the only private beach resort in Los Cabos, then two things are certain: it's going to be expensive, and the food is going to be fabulous. The crashing waves and sandy beach make it an idyllic setting for a romantic break, but the resort gladly welcomes kids and families, too. There are five restaurants to delight in during your stay, but we'd recommend Cocina del Mar for breakfast. Chef specials include eggs Benedict and steak and eggs, all washed down with fresh juice, smoothies and protein shakes.
15. Traders Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
With unencumbered views of the Petronas Towers, Traders Hotel is already a popular choice amongst city-breakers before they’re even made aware of its foodie credentials. Coffees, cakes and pastries are served at the hotel’s Pacific Emporium, too.

At the family-run Koza Cave Hotel, it's the owners’ hospitality and commitment to preparing all of their dishes from scratch that make breakfasts here a truly memorable experience. Everything is included in your room rate and freshly made each morning, with Turkish specialities served alongside cheese, fruit, cereals and fresh orange juice. Early birds will also want to head to the hotel terrace because it provides one of the best views of Göreme’s otherworldly landscapes at sunrise.

9. Anantara The Palm Resort, Dubai, UAE
Anantara The Palm resides on the Palm Jumeirah man-made archipelago off the coast of Dubai. 6. The St. Regis Resort, Vommuli Island, Maldives
Few of us will be fortunate enough to visit somewhere like The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort in our lifetime, with its private lagoon, butler service, Ayurvedic spa and overwater villas. But dreaming is free, so let’s pretend for a moment. Breakfast (free for hotel guests) is presented at the resort’s signature poolside restaurant Alba. Its elevated takes on traditional favourites include poached egg with orange hollandaise and black truffle and a lobster omelette with crab and caviar. You can even opt for a floating breakfast, complete with tropical fruits and bubbly.

Set in the heart of the Eternal City, Hotel Artemide provides comfortable accommodation for travellers looking for the perfect balance of classical architecture and contemporary styling. Geared quite heavily towards the sweet of tooth, guests can help themselves to Sicilian cannoli, tiramisu and crêpes Suzette, among many other sugary delights as well as savoury ones.
