A wonderful mash-up we never dreamt possible: the Famous Doughnut Grilled Cheese. But how is the magical creation made? A donut is cut in half, covered in butter and mozzarella cheese, then grilled to perfection. It’s then served with tomato soup, so you get delicious gooey cheese melting from the centre. And if that wasn’t tasty enough, you can add pieces of bacon and jalapeno peppers too.

Why choose between a donut and ice cream when you can have both? Happy Pike Ice Cream & Snack Bar serves up the Donut Cone. This donut with a twist consists of a big cinnamon sugar-covered cone pastry lined with Nutella and filled with a scoop of ice cream.

You may have heard of the Cinnamon Snail. It is one of the US’s top-rated food trucks that opened its first stationary location in The Pennsy, NY, serving up vegan delicacies. And its donuts are to die for! One of the quirkier donut creations is the Inception donut – a sparkling maple raspberry donut topped with mini-donuts that are topped with even smaller donuts.

At this quirky NYC café there are donuts for all your sugar-high needs. Chef Scottish Francis creates tasty donut creations with an odd twist, like the Prosciutto Guinness donut. The original flavours, such as Morello Cherry and Pistachio, are crafted by chef Paul Hurley, who insists on baking rather than frying the donuts which reduces the fat content by nearly half. Floresta serves up what are arguably the cutest donuts out there. With adorable bear faces etched onto their deep-fried creations, complete with almonds for ears, the shops offers donuts made with all organic and local ingredients.
