The Whale Challenge – Yorkshire, UK
Casey’s Fish ‘n’ Chips in Yorkshire, England believe they're offering up the largest portion of fish and chips in the UK. The challenge features a 32oz (900g) battered haddock, 15oz (425g) of chips, a roll and four sides. The meal towers over standard portions of fish and chips by industry standards which is 6oz (170g) fish and 10oz (280g) chips. Only seven people have completed it, with several Americans traveling across the pond to try and beat it.

220oz steak challenge – County Durham, UK
The George Pub and Grill in County Durham has created the UK’s biggest steak. Four diners can attempt to conquer the six-kilo rump in 45 minutes, but at two-feet long and weighing a whopping 220 ounces, with fries, onion rings and coleslaw, this challenge isn’t for the faint-hearted. The Holy Cow 220-ounce Steak Sharer costs $152 (£125), and requires 24 hours notice. What do you win? A certificate, a Facebook legend alert and a George Pub & Grill champions’ hoodie.

15 Dozen Club Challenge – New Orleans
New Orleans is famed for its fresh seafood, so it seems fitting that its resident food challenge is to eat 15 dozen (that’s 180!) oysters in one sitting at Acme Oyster House. If you think that’s a lot, the restaurant’s record holder has eaten 43 dozen oysters – that’s 645 oysters! Seems worth it for the free meal and T-shirt though.
KIDZ Breakfast Challenge – Great Yarmouth, England
The ‘KIDZ breakfast challenge’ at Jester's Diner weighs the same as a small child! Don’t be fooled though, this challenge is for adults only, with nine pounds of bacon, sausages, potatoes, mushrooms, black pudding, bread, eggs, beans, tomatoes and hash browns. Complete this 6,000 calorie monster in one hour and it’s free.
Jack-n-Grill Challenge – Colorado
Breakfast burritos are a filling option to start anyone’s day but this seven-pound monster from Jack-n-Grill is no joke. It consists of a whopping seven potatoes, a pound of ham, a whole onion, cheese, chilli and a dozen eggs (naturally!). Though there’s no time limit on this, you aren’t allowed toilet breaks. Which seems fair, when you’ll be rewarded with free food FOR LIFE if you finish it.
8th Wonder Challenge – New Jersey
This truly is no ordinary burger. The 105-pound monster served up at Clinton Station Diner is 28 inches in diameter and 11.5 inches tall. Teams of 10 are given only an hour to finish it in order to claim the $5,000 (£3,482) prize. Since it began, no one has conquered the challenge…

Curry lovers unite, and head to Brick Lane Curry House for what's the restaurant claims is the hottest curry this planet has to offer. If you manage to consume the Phaal, you’ll not only get a certificate and your face on the P’hall of Fame but a free beer to boot.

Italian Challenge – Niagara Falls, Canada
Who knew Canadians liked Italian food so much? At Mick & Angelo’s Eatery by Niagara Falls you can attempt to eat virtually every Italian dish EVER including: spaghetti, lasagna, chicken parmesan, cheese manicotti, cannelloni, garlic bread, vegetable soup and even apple crisp. If you finish the meal in 90 minutes, you’ll get the meal free, a T-shirt and your picture on their wall of fame.
The Zellagabetsky Challenge – Texas
This is no ordinary sandwich. At Kenny and Ziggy’s Delicatessen, you will find The Zellagabetsky, comprised of four pounds of deli meats including corned beef, pastrami, turkey, roast beef, salami and tongue. All layered on special cut rye bread, topped with cheese, coleslaw, Russian dressing and red sweet peppers. Your prize? A slice of cheesecake. Fun fact: past winners of the challenge include basketball legend Shaquille O’Neal!
Kitchen Sink Challenge – Walnut Creek, US
You’ll need a sweet tooth for this challenge as the owners of The San Francisco Creamery have made the sundae of all sundaes, packing in an incredible three bananas, eight scoops of ice cream, eight different toppings, loads of whipped cream and nuts. Cherry on top included. Ice cream lovers, if you complete the challenge in under an hour, you’ll get free ice cream for a year!
Dumpling Challenge – Tokyo
Are you a fan of Japanese cuisine? Then the gyoza challenge is perfect for you. Costing ¥9,600 ($80, £56, $116AU), this mammoth dumpling needs to be ordered and paid for two days in advance as it requires special preparation. The good news is you can get that money back – but only if you finish it all.

Jurassic Pork Challenge – Sydney
Hailing from Essen Restaurant, Sydney, The Jurassic Pork weighs in at 3.5 pounds and is constructed (literally!) out of a hollowed-out loaf of bread filled with juicy pulled pork and coleslaw. Served with a side of chips, this monster meal is free if you finish it in 35 minutes but a $49 (£34) bill awaits if you don’t, alongside a photo of you pinned to the ‘Pork of Shame’ wall.

If you fancy chowing down on 3.5 pounds of pancakes, with bacon and fruit, Heroes Bar & Grill in California is the place for you. If you can stomach the challenge, which is only available for Sunday brunch, you get your meal for free.
Bacon Bomb Challenge – Chicago
The Bacon Bomb Challenge contains five pounds of ground sausage, pork and beef, all wrapped up in bacon and slow cooked covered in brown sugar. As if this meat brick wasn’t enough, there’s fries or potato salad as your side. Eat this meal (which usually serves 6-8 people) in 45 minutes or less to join their wall of fame.
Sausage Roll Challenge – London, England
Sausage rolls are a traditional English delicacy, often found at picnics or children’s party buffets. However, this two-foot sausage roll, served up at the County Arms pub in London, is a whole other story. If you can defeat this pastry demon in five minutes, you’ll get a T-shirt - and rather full stomach!
