Bill Murray
Hollywood funnyman Bill Murray worked as a pizza boy in the 70s, but his culinary interests are a little more refined these days. He owns a restaurant called the Caddy Shack (named after one of his most popular films) along with his five brothers and takes an active interest in what goes on behind the pans. In need of a stiff drink? Bill recently did a shift pouring shots and serving cocktails at Brooklyn’s 21 Greenpoint. Well, his son is the owner.
Kelis
Most people tend to comfort eat when they’re stuck in a rut – Kelis cooks. When the Grammy-nominated artist struggled to get out of her then label Jive, she used her time well, studying to be a saucier at Le Cordon Bleu cookery school. Fortunately, concocting sauces stirred up her passion for music again, and she returned to the business. Still, it’s no surprise she went on to call one of her albums Food.

Mark Wahlberg
The former New Kid on the Block and now Hollywood heartthrob is a well-known food fan, with his own chain of restaurants called Wahlburgers, which he owns with his brothers. Although most of his time is spent trotting the globe to make blockbusters, the actor is known to take a keen interesting in what happens in the kitchen. Well, you would wouldn’t you? It’s a family business, after all.

Jessica Biel
When Biel said she wanted to open a restaurant, many turned up their noses, dismissing the Valentine’s Day star’s claims as wishful thinking. She proved them wrong by opening her own healthy eating kids’ restaurant, Au Fudge. The LA restaurant is all natural, all organic and all local. Basically, all LA.

Stanley Tucci
Known for his intense characters and thousand-yard stare, the American actor is as skilled in the kitchen as he is on the stage and screen. Famously at home with an apron on, he’s even published his own cookery book, aptly named The Tucci Table, with his wife, Felicity Blunt (sister of Emily), a noted literary agent for many cookery writers. We still wouldn’t want to be in a room full of knives with him though.

Action Bronson
The New York rapper could certainly be a chef because, well, he was. Prior to becoming an acclaimed musician, he worked as a well-respected fire-flame gourmet chef in his native New York. At one point he even served up dishes for local baseball team the New York Mets. However, after breaking his leg in the kitchen, he turned his hand (and vocals) to music full time.

Gwyneth Paltrow
We know what you’re thinking, but stick with us. For all the wheatgrass and quinoa, Paltrow really is quite good at cooking. Yes, you may need to take out a second mortgage to put together one of her recipes, but if she ever does want to throw in the acting completely, she already has a second career lined up. Just don’t complain about the mean portion sizes.

Kenny Rogers
The big-hearted country singer is quite the dab hand in the kitchen, and founded his own chain of chicken-based restaurants in 1991. You won’t see many of them in the US these days, however. So, who killed Kenny? No one. The restaurants may not be big stateside any more, but they’re still going strong in south-east Asia.
Dolly Parton
Yup, the impossibly-proportioned queen of country is an all-round ace in the kitchen too. With her own cookbook, the wonderfully-titled Dolly’s Dixie Fixin’s, the singer compiled a range of recipes, many of which came from a childhood spent helping out in the kitchen. As the fourth of 12 children, Dolly had to help her young mother out at home and has been cooking family Christmases ever since. Poor, Dolly, she already has a 9 to 5.

Eva Longoria
The Desperate Housewives star puts her love of cooking down to a childhood spent on a Texas ranch. In between takes (well, quite big gaps between takes) the actress has opened two restaurants and published a cookbook, Eva’s Kitchen, a collection of family recipes and a fusion of Latin and Texas cuisine. Not so desperate after all, is she?

Kris Jenner
Keeping Up With The Kardashians matriarch Kris (left) may be well known these days for her on-screen persona and marriages to Robert and Caitlyn (nee Bruce), but she’s also a good chef. After marrying young and starting a family, she enrolled at cookery school and has never looked back. She may have published a cookery book like every other celebrity on the planet, but at least hers comes with a little know how. Keep up, keep up.

David Beckham
Golden Balls doesn’t take corners these days, neither does he cut them. During a spell playing for AC Milan in Italy, the English superstar took to Italian culture like a duck to water by enrolling on a six-month culinary course at a professional chef’s school where he learned to make real ragu and pasta.

2 Chainz
Unlike 90s hip-hop artist Coolio (who had his own, hilarious YouTube cookery show) 2 Chainz is actually pretty good at making dinner. When the artist launched #MEALTIME, many thought it would be just another shameless act of self-promotion – and it was. Thankfully, that’s what he excels at, and with his to-the-point yet utterly over-the-top instructions, his recipes proved a hit.

Matthew McConaughey
Ever since McConaissance turned the Texan into a credible, Oscar-winning actor, it’s been clear that there are very few things that he cannot do. As a good ol’ Texan boy, it should come as no surprise that McConaughey is a great chef, known for his love of Texas cooking and rib eye steak. Please Matthew, will you just fail at something so the rest of us can feel okay about ourselves? No. Can we come round for dinner then? Yes? Thanks Matt.

Alicia Silverstone
The Clueless star is no fool in the kitchen. Like a few others on this list, she’s produced her own cookbook, The Kind Diet, a guide to vegan nutrition. Its success led to her launching a popular website, so she clearly gets the nuts and bolts of her trade. Well, the nuts at least. And the whole grains, and the legumes.

Ryan Gosling
The culinary Canadian may have won hearts (well, more hearts) when it emerged he did all the cooking for his then-pregnant girlfriend Eva Mendes. However, his love of food goes back much further, and he eventually opened Moroccan restaurant Tagine in 2004. The Canadian may not be there all the time these days (he’s busy making films with Russell Crowe) but he’s known to have a heavy input in the culinary side of things.

Kimberly Wyatt
Former Pussycat Doll Kimberley Wyatt won popular British TV show Celebrity Masterchef in 2015, displaying a flare for cooking to Michelin standard. The singer wowed the famously hard to please judges with her bold dishes, most notably her Sinatra cheesecake, which helped her win the final. That Lady is a Champ.

Vladimir Putin
Yes, that’s right, the Russian president is a dab hand with sharp objects. Well, this is a former KGB agent we’re talking about. Fortunately, he’s better known as a skilled cook. His grandfather was a chef who cooked for the likes of Lenin and Stalin. Though he died when Putin was only 13, he ensured that the young Vladimir knew a thing or two in the kitchen. So Hillary or Donald, that’s something to look forward to at least.

Francis Ford Coppola
The number of celebrities who think they know about wine is longer than The Godfather trilogy, but Coppola actually knows what he’s talking about when it comes to all things vino. The director purchased a winery in 1975, and over the years has developed a grand reputation in the industry to match his Oscar-winning status. His Inglenook Chablis is now one of the most sold wines in US restaurants, so he’s clearly doing something right.

Emma Stone
The Crazy, Stupid, Love and Superbad actress is known for her love of baking, which she took up as a young child to help her deal with panic attacks. So good is Stone that she’s since professed a genuine desire to open up her own bakery.

Robert De Niro
With food, many try, many fail, Robert succeeds. De Niro is an experienced restaurateur with an encyclopedic knowledge of food and dining. His knowledge led him to co-found Tribeca and Nobu, both of which have gone on to become some of New York’s most respected eating establishments. You talking to me? No Robert, but while you’re here we’d love another bottle of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Gok Wan
Famous in the UK for his show How to Look Good Naked, Gok Wan’s reputation for matching people with outfits is complemented by his skills in the kitchen. Growing up in Leicester, England, the young Gok worked in his parents' restaurant, and continues to supplement his work in the fashion world with regular recipe updates online.

Michael Fassbender
The Irish actor is the son of a German chef and his parents own a restaurant in Killarney specializing in French cuisine. Go figure. After working in the restaurant throughout his childhood, Fassbender spent much of his twenties serving drinks in bars as he attempted to become an actor. Who knows, had things not worked out, the restaurants of south-west Ireland might have had themselves one hunky chef. Or bartender.

Bret Easton Ellis
The US author was as famous in the early 90s for his hardcore partying as he was for his electrifying, and controversial, writing style. Love it or hate it, anyone who’s read American Psycho will agree that Easton Ellis knows a thing or two about food. The descriptions of dishes are written with such painstaking detail that it’s clear the author could have turned his hand to cooking had he wanted to.

Kangana Ranaut
One of the most famous stars in Bollywood, Ranaut is known for impressing co-stars with her cooking ability. While filming Queen, the star volunteered to cook for the entire crew, who had got bored with pasta and pizza. Who knows, if being adored by millions of fans ever grows tiring, maybe she’ll turn her hand to cooking full time?

Shailene Woodley
The Divergent star is known for her unique, all-natural lifestyle. The actor has gone on record to say that she collects spring water from the mountains near her home, forages in the woods and makes all her own medicines and toothpaste. She also makes her own cheese. Sure, it might be a bit out there for some, but at least if the blockbusters dry up she’ll have another project in the pipeline.

Tom Waits
Like many singers the gravel-voiced crooner worked in restaurants before finding fame. Unlike most, he liked it – and was good at it. Napoleone Pizza House in San Diego influenced Waits in many ways, and was later referenced on a number of his songs, most famously The Ghosts of Saturday Night.

Gérard Depardieu
While many celebrities have had a go at winemaking, few boast the knowledge (and drinking ability) of French actor Gérard Depardieu, who even had vigneron (a person who cultivates grapes for winemaking) listed as his passport occupation at one time. The actor owns several restaurants and a vineyard in the Loire Valley, Château de Tigné, although he has plans to sell after an ‘argument’ with the French tax authorities. Drink up while you still can, France.

David Ginola
The former French international soccer player and fashion model may never have won the EPL, but he’s made up for it in recent years by lifting trophies for his winemaking. His Cote Brulade rosé won silver in the International Wine Challenge and the former pro continues to make top-quality wines.
