Part of a wider group of chippies across the Southampton area, Best Fry has already picked up the National Federation of Fish Friers’ (NFFF) quality award this year. TripAdvisor soundbite: "The food is amazing, you get insane portions for the price and it's cooked in front of you".
Captain's Fish and Chips, Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire
A relative newcomer compared to some others on the list, having opened in 1998, Captain's is run by Tony Forgione and his brothers Luigi and Libby. Specials include prawns in batter.
