5. Missouri: The American Royal World Series of Barbecue, Kansas City

Dedicated carnivores from all over the world flock to Kansas City every autumn for a barbecue experience like no other. This five-day event is the world's largest barbecue competition, with more than 500 teams and 50,000 spectators coming each year to cook and feast on the most delicious smoked meats. While the contest is the main draw, there are also hoedowns, rodeos, live music performances and all kinds of quirky events, including BBQ sauce wrestling.
