This creative mum has cracked how to feed her son
Too good to eat

Ever struggled with making your children's meals appetising yet healthy? Fear not, Australian mum Laleh Mohmedi, also known on Instagram as jacobs_food_diaries, has cracked it. After turning her son Jacob's spelt pancakes into a lion was a roaring success, she's gone on to create everything from Disney characters to Nickelodeon stars. Take a look and be inspired by her genius edible creations.

Mr Otterton

Zootopia's misunderstood florist lost his way a bit in the 2016 Disney animation but he's a big hit for dessert. What's not to like about a spelt sticky date pudding with cream, pineapple, kiwi and a big juicy date?
Stitch

Fussy eaters will be anything but blue when they taste the endearing dog from Lilo & Stitch. He's been created using blue matcha and acai berry powder spelt pancakes, with strawberries and blueberries. The outlines are key, so improvise with liquorice or even dyed icing.
Ellie and Carl Fredricksen

Hands Up who shed a tear or three when Pixar's cutest couple were no more? Well now you can recreate them with chopped chicken, plenty of mashed potato that's been carefully sculpted with a touch of beetroot for Ellie's cheeks, brown bread, lettuce, glass noodles, yellow pepper and a cashew nut. Oh, and a lot of patience.
Mr Pricklepants

Toy Story 3's lederhosen-clad hedgehog didn't like Lotso, the strawberry-scented bear, so it's only right that he's made up of savoury food instead. Beef strips for his spikes, pumpkin mash for his body, and vegetables and ham for the trimmings.
Rapunzel and Pascal

OK, so this features triple carbs, but we think that's fine in the name of food art. Tangled's princess is made of mashed potato with fettuccine pasta, cucumber, purple cabbage and a white tortilla wrap, while her chameleon buddy is mainly avocado – ripe enough to shape but not too soft.
Rafiki

This old guy from The Lion King was full of wisdom for Simba and it's wise to eat him up thanks to the fresh fruity goodness he's made of. Yogurt, honey, strawberries, peaches, blueberries, chia seeds, black sesame seeds and lashings of coconut sounds as good as it looks – once you've arranged it all of course.
Belle

Beast

And where would Belle be without her Beast? Well, we find out at the end, don't we. Cheer up the kids with a sweet treat – waffles! Cut them up strategically for his brows, nose and neck, then accompany them with spelt chocolate pancakes for his fur, apple slices for eyes, dragon fruit, bananas and blueberries. Magical.

Scar

Edna 'E' Mode

This fashionista is surprisingly easy to make and looks, you guessed it, Incredible(s). Get that look just right with moulded mashed potato (using a bit of beetroot for colour), squid ink pasta, and aubergine squares and discs. Her little V-neck can be made with red apple slices and the film's logo is simply peach with crumbled chicken.
Anger, Joy and Disgust

Whether the kids' emotions are running high or not, these characters from Inside Out will cheer them up. Anger is just a strawberry and melon, with some cream creativity; Joy is a golden kiwi, blueberries and a sliver of apple skin; Disgust is also kiwi with cucumber and two cheeky blobs of watermelon. The Memory Orbs are scoops of watermelon and cantaloupe.
Assistant Mayor Bellwether

Back to Zootopia for this sweet but scorned sheep. Kids needn't fear, as no lambs were hurt in the making of her. It's just mashed potato (dyed pink with beetroot juice) for her face, purple cabbage and spinach for her outfit, with a yellow tomato and dots of sweetcorn for the chain. The pièce de résistance is her cauliflower hair.
Grinch

He may be grumpy but surely he'll liven up Christmas rather than ruin it like his character. A spatchcock roast chicken is the centrepiece but spinach mashed potato for his face is genius here. Add some eyes with aubergine skin, cucumber and white flour tortilla, then surround him with roasted vegetables and he'll make everyone smile – much to his disgust, of course.
Winnie the Pooh as a bunny

We know Winnie has already been included but we couldn't resist him dressed as an Easter bunny. There are no chocolate eggs in sight here, though. Flaked whiting fish has been used for his outfit, with sweet potato mash for his face. His little basket of treats is simply wholemeal bread with olives and veg trimmings. He's too cute to eat!
Snow White

Fans of the classic fairy tale will be pleased to know there are no poison apples involved. The Seven Dwarfs' beautiful friend has been made with spelt pancakes, blackberries, strawberries, pineapple and blueberries. Her delicate features are created using black pancake – flour, water and natural food dye. She really is the fairest of them all.
