The UK's best gastropubs for 2016 announced
The pubs with the best grub have been revealed.
The winners of one of the most anticipated foodie awards of the year have been announced.
Michelin-starred chef Tom Kerridge – himself a gastropub veteran – presented the Estrella Damm Top 50 Gastropubs 2016 awards. With Kerridge’s winning pub, the Hand & Flowers in Marlow, out of the running since being inducted into the Top 50 Hall of Fame, first place in the 2016 competition went to The Sportsman in Whitstable, Kent for the second year running.
The Pipe & Glass in South Dalton, East Yorkshire came second, followed by The Star at Harome, near York in third place.
Pubs are voted for by an academy of industry experts, including gastropub operators, executive and celebrity chefs, pub guide editors and food writers.
