UK's best Italian trattoria and deli named

The Gennaro Contaldo-led hunt for the best Italian food on these shores has found its winners.
The north of Britain has the best Italian food in the UK, according to the results of a nationwide search for the best trattoria and deli.
Regular lovefoodies may remember last month we helped kick off the contest, which was led by legendary Italian chef Gennaro Contaldo.
And the winners of the public votes have now been revealed. Best trattoria goes to Casa Mia Millennium in Leeds, while the best deli prize went to Valvona & Crolla (manager Philip Conti is pictured above) in Edinburgh.
Interestingly, London isn’t represented in the top 10 of either category, despite the city being the birthplace of Italian dining in the UK.
