Our love affair with curry

Updated on 21 March 2012 | 0 Comments

We've got some great recipes and features lined up for our Indian food season, as well as a truly amazing competition.

It’s fair to say that Indian dishes and flavours have been a constant in British cooking for hundreds of years and during this time our love affair with curry hasn’t wavered.

What has happened though, is our understanding of Indian food is becoming more specialised. We now look for authenticity and regional variations, as well as lighter, healthier recipes. Perhaps most importantly, it’s now easier than ever to cook Indian dishes at home, and many of us do so on a weekly basis.

A taste of what’s to come

So over the coming weeks we’ll explore the rich world of spices, have advice on Indian salads and desserts, and see what the nation’s top Indian chefs eat at home. We’ll also explore the history of the Pathak’s family, who’ve come a long way from the small shop selling spices behind Euston station.

Finally, prepare yourself for the biggest and best competition ever to appear on lovefood.com – the chance to win a trip of a lifetime tour to India.

It goes without saying that the traffic is never one-way at lovefood.com, and we want to hear your tips, stories and experiences, as well as what’s good in your area. So stay tuned over the coming weeks and be prepared to immerse yourself in all things Indian.

Firstly then, here’s Humayun Hussain with a short history of curry in the UK.

Enjoy
