Fancy trying your hand at foraging? Well, now's your chance!
If you’ve read our feature on How to get started foraging and our interview with Masterchef winner Mat Follas, then this is one competition we’re sure you’ll be dying to enter.
That’s because, this week, we’ve got a place on a foraging course to give away – and not just any foraging course, but a foraging course hosted by Mat Follas at his superb restaurant, The Wild Garlic.
If you win...
If you win, you’ll get to join Mat for a leisurely walk through local woodland, hedgerow and seashore, learning to identify British edible wild food.
The course will introduce you to some of the edible plants that can be found growing wild all around us. Some can be eaten, some cannot; some taste good and some should be left for the birds, but which is which? Mat will guide you to some of the tastiest wild food around.
The day will start at The Wild Garlic with a coffee or tea. You will then spend a couple of hours exploring the countryside around Beaminster, collecting as you go. Then back to The Wild Garlic for refreshments and a breather. You’ll spend the next couple of hours exploring the seashore along the beautiful Jurassic coast before, once again, returning to The Wild Garlic.
Mat will host a three course lunch (set menu) explaining how he creates dishes from wild foods, which will hopefully include some of what you have found that morning!

This free prize draw is open to all UK residents aged 16 or over who are registered users of lovefood.com. To register, visit https://www.lovefood.com/login/register
1. All entries must be submitted below by Monday, 30th May 2011 to be valid entries into the draw.
2. Third party registrations will not be accepted.
3. The draw will be made by Monday, 13th June 2011.
4. There is one prize of a voucher for a foraging course at The Wild Garlic to be won.
5. The winner will be drawn at random from all valid entries received and will be notified by email.
6. No alternative prize is available and the prize is not transferable.
7. lovefood.com reserves the right to publish the user name of competition winners.
8. By entering the free prize draw, entrants agree to be bound by the rules and by other requirements set out in promotional material.
9. The promoter (lovefood.com) reserves the right to amend the terms and conditions of the prize draw or cancel at any time in the light of fraudulent activity.
10. This competition is only open to residents of mainland UK as delivery of the competition prize will only be to an address in mainland UK and will not include the highlands and islands.
11. The prize does not include transport to Beaminster, Dorset where the course takes place. However, transport whilst on the course is included, along with a 3-course meal cooked by The Wild Garlic chefs.
12. The winner will have to agree the date of the course with The Wild Garlic directly. The Wild Garlic runs at least one foraging course every month from March to April.
