Here's what's lovely and fresh in June.

Vegetables

As well as asparagus, it's hello to artichokes, aubergines, broad beans, chicory, french beans, mange tout, mint, peas and rocket. Meanwhile, courgettes, new potatoes, radishes, spinach, spring onions and watercress are still around.

Meat

The early season lamb is continuing to arrive.

Seafood

Crab, lobster, mackerel, sardine, salmon, sea bass and sea trout are all still very flavoursome.

Fruit

The reds are definitely in with the arrival of raspberries and tomatoes to compliment the strawberries. And don't forget the elderflower and gooseberries.
