Top 10 foodie gifts for Valentine’s Day

Here are 10 great gift ideas for that special foodie in your life.

For an aspiring cook

Leiths School of Food and Wine offer various classes for cooks to improve their skills, from pasta making to artisan bread baking, and there's even an exciting sounding course coming up dedicated to the 'Flavours of the Pacific Rim'. You can either purchase a voucher for a specific course, or pick an 'open voucher' and choose to put an amount of money towards a class of your Valentine's choosing. This one might prove rather expensive though, as classes start at around £100.

A classic romantic gift

Waitrose Cellar is selling a gift set containing a bottle of Alexandre Bonnet Rosé Brut NV Champagne, accompanied by more than a dozen white chocolate truffles.
The raspberry fruit flavours of the wine complement the truffles perfectly. This duo should be gratefully received!

Edible flower lollipops

Cover flowers and sweets in one fell swoop with these edible, individually-wrapped flower lollipops. Each lollipop encases a real flower (not just a sugar decoration), which are grown on a farm in Wales without the use of pesticides. Comes in a pack of 10, with a mix of both round- and heart-shaped lollipops.

Ice cream kit

The best thing about this Belgian choc ice cream kit is that you don't need an ice cream machine to make it. If your partner loves making desserts (and then eating them), this is a great choice. It makes around three whole litres of ice cream in two batches, so your lucky Valentine can make loads of ice cream but not have to guzzle it all at once.

Unusual tea

Delight your beloved with one of these limited edition teas from the Rare Tea Co. White teas, green teas, Darjeeling... whatever your choice, you're covered. There are some really special teas here you can brew up and serve with a slice of homemade cake when your partner gets home from work.

If you're looking for something a little more familiar, there is plenty of choice on the rest of the Rare Tea Co website.

Chocolate... pizza?

Hear us out, these are better than they might initially sound! Involving no dough, these 'pizzas' are created on a base of smooth Belgian chocolate, topped with white and milk chocolate shavings, hearts and rice balls. The Valentine's versions are available in 10", 7" and a 'mini' size. We think these are much better than a regular takeaway pizza.

Food Club

Any foodie would love to be signed up to a Food Club. They'll be shipped fresh, seasonal ingredients every month, including meat, fish, deli items, sweets and more. See a sample menu to get an idea of what they can expect to receive.

More edible 'flowers'!

Delicious edible bouquets made with fruit, chocolate, nuts and more. Suitable bouquets for Valentine's Day include the 'Sweetheart Surprise', containing chocolate-covered strawberries and juicy pineapple hearts, and the 'Naughty but Nice', which is also made from strawberries dipped in chocolate, piled high in the shape of a tree with chopped nuts, coconut and chocolate curl toppings.

Chocolates with a secret

A pack of seven milk chocolate salted caramel hearts, or white chocolate vanilla truffles – the choice is yours. In the eighth gap, where you might expect another chocolate to rest, is a personalised message from you to your loved one. This one is kinda pricey though, and you could just slip a romantic note inside a bigger (ie better) box of chocolates.

Make something yourself

If you put a little effort into making one of these five great recipes you're sure to get a good reaction, so flex a little culinary flair and get cracking, you've still got time! We've got recipes for you to make your own truffles, tiffin, and other sweet treats, or you could also peruse our collection of chocolate recipes for more ideas.
