Five chocolate gifts to make for your Valentine

Nothing will prove to your Valentine that you’re the sweetest around quite like a homemade batch of sweet treats.

Nothing says 'I love you' like a homemade gift, and we reckon these five chocolatey options will delight your Valentine.

If you're lucky, they might even share them with you.

Gilded chocolate tiffin

This is a bit pricey, and there's always going to be a debate on whether using gold leaf in cooking is naff or great, but we really like the look of this tiffin (pictured above). Just leave out the leaf if you don't fancy using it – it'll taste the same! A rich chocolate treat with pistachios and sour cherries or other fruit and nuts.

Salted caramel brownies

Salted caramel pretty much is love. Add some chocolate, and you're bound to score brownie points with these, er, brownies. The epitome of decadent, these should ideally have a salty and slightly crisp outer layer. Then when you bite through into the centre, a gooey, chocolatey, chewy centre awaits. We'd definitely by wooed by these.

Gluten-free chocolate chip cookies

Coeliac? We've got you covered. These cookies have all the gooey texture and oozing chocolate of the regular version, but no wheat or gluten. They also have no sugar, using agave nectar and maple syrup instead, so the flavour is significantly different.

Salted brown sugar caramel truffles

Remember what we said about salted caramel? These truffles are filled with rich muscovado sugar with cream, that has been blended with dark chocolate to make a smooth ganache.
Dust them all over with cocoa powder then present in a small plastic bag with a ribbon.

White chocolate brûlée

If you're planning a romantic night in and don't normally get much in the way of gifts, go the extra mile to impress with these white chocolate brûlée pots. A custard base mixed with white chocolate is then tempered with the bittersweet flavour of pomegranate, before being blowtorched (or grilled) to perfection.
