UK named second best fine dining destination in the world

The UK’s culinary reputation is riding high on fine dining successes.

Midsummer House in Cambridge has been named the second best restaurant in the world by reviewers on the TripAdvisor website.

The restaurant was beaten to top spot by Spain’s El Celler de Can Roca, but being rated so highly is a great achievement.

Spain had three establishments overall in the top 10, in first, sixth and tenth places respectively.

But the UK matched this number so it was voted the second best country for fine dining in the world.

Midsummer House was joined in the top 10 listing by Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir Aux Quat’Saisons (eighth place) and Michel Roux Jr.’s Le Gavroche (ninth place).

Midsummer House

Daniel Clifford has been running Midsummer House since August 1998, and under his patronage has gained, and held onto, two Michelin stars (the first in 2002, the second in 2005).

Daniel appeared as a contestant on the Great British Menu from 2009-2013, and created winning dishes in 2012 and 2013. He was one of the judges in this year’s series.
