Veggies triumph over turkey in a survey of our favourite Christmas foods.
Carrots have topped a new poll of Brits’ favourite Christmas dinner foods, with turkey in third place.
The Sainsbury’s Pleasure On A Plate Index asked people to rate Christmas foods on a number of criteria including how moreish, gratifying and healthy they are, as well as how much they cost and how nostalgic they make people feel.
Here’s the Christmas dinner top 10:
1) Carrots
2) Potatoes
3) Roast turkey
4) Stuffing
5) Gravy
6) Parsnips
7) Broccoli
8) Cabbage
9) Brussels sprouts
10) Pigs in blankets
However, there was a distinct gender split when it came to the Christmas dinner index, with men rating turkey their top food. Women preferred carrots and parsnips.
