The winner of London's best loaf has been revealed. and the man behind it has been baking bread for less than a year!

The Real Bread Campaign and Jellied Eel magazine ran The Londoners’ Loaf competition, and winning baker Fergus Jackson (pictured here), who used to be in advertising but gave it up for the love of bread, said that he was “shocked and overwhelmed” to have won.
“I can’t believe how quickly it’s all come together. I was just reading some food blogs one day last year and, as a result, decided to go and study at the San Francisco Baking Institute for four and a half months. As soon as I got back I started looking for potential bakery spaces, and weirdly found one around the corner from where my wife and I live in East Dulwich.”
“It’s been crazy since we opened in April. All our equipment is re-conditioned and the space is basically a shell in the middle of an industrial estate. We’re surrounded by mechanics and the like – they love the smells and heat that comes from our kitchen!”
"Pretty much perfect"
The Brick House, which is yet to develop a proper website, only bakes around 400 loaves a week for local shops, cafes, and a weekly stall at Herne Hill market, although Fergus has just signed up his first employee to help.
