Kate Johns
I'm festival director of Chocolate Week and organise Chocolate Unwrapped, a dedicated chocolate show that is the highlight of the week. Chocolate Week was set up seven years ago to promote fine flavour chocolate, the independent artisan chocolatiers and the chocolate companies who work in direct partnership with the cocoa farmers. It aims to encourage consumers to pay a fairer price for their chocolate. All of the UK's top chocolatiers and chocolate companies take part holding over 300 events around the country - talks, tastings, demonstrations, chocolate desserts, chocolate meals and much more. 2011 sees the third Chocolate Unwrapped show, this year at Vinopolis with over 40 exhibitors coming from around the world to exhibit at the event alongside the best of the UK chocolate companies. I'm a member of the Academy of Chocolate and on the organising committees for two of their projects. I'm currently setting up the International Chocolate Awards which will be launched in 2012. It's part of my role to stay up-to-date with the chocolate world, to meet new producers and chocolate companies and to taste the very best chocolate.
